Biography
Born October 2 of 1985 in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia; father, Feliciano Gonzalez from Spain and mother, Maria Roberts from Bolivia, at 7 months of age moved to the United States where she receives her American Nationality. At the age of 4 years she starts manifesting her artistic skills by singing and cultivating this with intensive vocal classes in New York City, where she now resided. At 8 years of age she starts expressing herself through dance in general (classic ballet, modern, contemporary, tango, salsa, samba, hip hop, etc.) as well as in poetry and drawing. At 9 years old Soraya writes her first poem that was published in the book, “Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans” Edition 1996 in Nueva York. Between the age of 10 and 11 years, Soraya converted into a New York Citizen, returns to her home country, Bolivia. Soraya continues her dance classes and continually shows her talent in musical interpretation and performance on stage at school and adopts the name of Soraya Roberts. Then she performs in the theatre “Casa de la Cultura” where she demonstrates her talent as a ballerina and her debut as a singer, interpreting in English, the internationally popular song “New York- New York” by Frank Sinatra. Soraya dominates both english and spanish. Soraya also presented herself in the prestigious theatre Palladium (theatre of national and international events). At age 15 she was chosen Beauty Queen of Carnival (a huge festive event in Bolivia) and Beauty Pageant Winner of the Carnival at the “Military School of Aviation” (COLMILAV). In March of 2003, Soraya records her first song of her debut album titled, “Adios Amor” (Goodbye My Love) in ballad and cumbia tex-mex, after that she records 11 more songs which was also composed, written and co-produced by her own inspiration. Soraya took advantage of her skills as an artistic drawer and started to design her own wardrobe and choreographing her own steps for performances. In the promotion of her first single “Adiós Amor” Soraya Roberts performs in the largest club in Santa Cruz “Tribeca Disco”; just the same she performed with success in the Beauty Pageant of the City of Montero, “Miss Montero” in the tourist resort “Las Laguna’s” which till today has the largest pool in the City of Santa Cruz and later performed a complete concert in the Club “No Name” which was inspired by the Cirque de Soleil. In the year 2005 she internationally launched her first single “Adiós Amor” in the State of Puerto Rico, through the broadcast radio “Iniciativa”. After this huge step, Soraya performed in every single channel and television program and made appearances and interviews in every newspaper, magazine and radio channel in the country. Soraya’s songs reached extraordinary distances like Spain, Australia, Paraguay and other countries In March of 2006, Soraya returns to Nueva York where she continues her vocal classes with a prestigious vocal coach, Alison Starr, who in her days, performed and sang along side of famous stars as Clark Gable and Judy Garland. In August 2006, Soraya inaugurates the fabulous movie theatre “Cine Center” in the City of Cochabamba, Bolivia interpreting the theme song of the movie “Titanic”, “My heart will go on” by Celine Dion as the main event, where she sang along side the a symphony of 30 musicians and a very prestigious audience, for example, the “President of the Republic” The 4th of September, 2006 Soraya performed in Washington D.C. in the “Tribute of Miss Bolivia” in the restaurant “Portales” where she once again won the headlines of newspapers and was televised by prestigious international channels “Univision” y “Telefutura”. Today Soraya Roberts is 22 years old and resides in the state of Florida of the United Status, where she still promotes her music. Soraya Roberts has composed and written over 40 songs in English and in Spanish. Soraya is a composer, lyric and poetry writer, co-producer and engineer, dancer in general, choreographer, fashion designer and much more.
